ABOUT ME

I am the Fashion Merchandising Program Director and assistant professor at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, and I manage the Brenau Historic Clothing Collection. I hold a Ph.D. in Apparel, Merchandising, and Design from Iowa State University and a Master of Science in Textiles, Merchandising, and Interiors from the University of Georgia, with a focus in Historic and Cultural Dress and Textiles.

My research interests include home sewing, retro sewers, the history of sewing patterns, historic maternity clothing, and the evolution of sewing techniques.  My design work focuses on interpreting historic styles with current technology, incorporating couture construction techniques.

I am an admin for several online vintage communities, including Antique Textile Care & Conservation and  Vintage Patterns Bazaar (currently the largest vintage pattern group on Facebook).
