WEDDING GOWN:

SOMETHING OLD, SOMETHING NEW

For this dress, the bride and her mother asked me to remake an heirloom dress, c. 1905, into a new dress for the bride. We worked together to develop the initial sketches and dress design.  So that the original dress could later be put back together if they wished, I unpicked the stitching from the skirt, used it as a whole piece, and integrated it into the design of the new dress.  I used fabrics and lace that were near-exact matches to the original, accented with tucks and ruffles that harmonized with the details of the original.
